At Girls Inc. of Bristol, we serve historically underserved children all throughout Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. However, to us, “historically underserved” goes far beyond just focusing on children in poverty. Some of the children we serve live in situations and deal with circumstances that put them at a greater risk of substance abuse, unwanted pregnancy, food insecurity, incarceration, homelessness, or not finishing school. Girls Inc. of Bristol steps in to help children break generational cycles and adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s), so they can see themselves and their future as successful and independent.
This begins with meeting their very basic needs: food, clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, and childcare. At Girls Inc. we serve over 1,000 children each year. Without the support of our incredible community, this would not be possible. Meeting the needs of over 1,000 children is a lot to take on, but it is necessary. Without love and support, children cannot succeed.
